Meeting Times & Club Dues

The Clear Lake Fencing Club is a non-profit recreational fencing organization serving the Bay Area since 1993.

Beginner, Advanced Beginner and Intermediate lessons are offered for recreational and competitive fencers. All courses are taught by USFA certified instructors. Club and USFA membership are required for Intermediate courses.

Club Meeting Schedule:

Wednesdays (formerly Tuesdays): Open Fencing, see class schedule below: 6:45pm-9:45pm (no floor fee for class members who only participate in the class, $3 floor fee for club members and class members who participate in open fencing, $5 for others*.)

Thursdays: Open Fencing, see class schedule below: 6:45pm-9:45pm (no floor fee for club members, class members, and 1st time visitors, $5 floor fee for visitors*)

(*Members of certain fencing clubs with which CLFC has a 'no floor fee agreement' may fence as if CLFC members, i.e. for free on Thursdays and for $3 on Wednesdays (formerly Tuesdays). All observers are welcome at no charge.)

Other Information -- Abandoned Property: All abandoned personal possessions of fencers where ownership is not known will become CLFC property after 90 days. All abandoned personal possessions of fencers where onwership is known will become CLFC property 90 days after the second attempt to contact the owner and request its removal. (Hint: Have your name on your equipment!)

* There will be an open house June 5th at 7:00 until 8:30 PM, for those interested and wishing to get information on any of the classes. Please send a confirmation e-mail to, or call, Coach Damian Berntsen if you wish to enroll in any class.

** CLFC has a limited number of right and left gloves for loan, but they may not be the right size or in good condition.

For activities requiring full fencing clothing, CLFC has a limited quantity of fencing clothing items for loan, with the understanding that lower-level classes have priority for borrowing. The available equipment includes masks, jackets, underarm protectors, breast protectors††, and gloves**.

†† CLFC has a limited number of breast protectors for loan (plastic "hub cap"-style).

Cost of classes:

Normal classes:   $55, usually five weekly sessions (when not otherwise noted)
Advanced selected topics classes (when offered):   $10 per lesson or $30 per month of four lessons
Private Lessons:   contact the coach
