Dear Veteran Fencer,

The Clear Lake Fencing Club and I would like to invite you to attend the 8th Annual Fête de Lune Veterans Fencing Tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006, in Houston, Texas, at the Clear Lake City Sports & Recreation Comples ("Clear Lake City Recreation Center").

The Fête de Lune will consist of Men's and Women's Foil, Épée, and Saber competitions. All awards will be presented at our Awards Banquet, which will take place immediately following the tournament.  The schedule, and pre-registration also, is available on www.askfred.net .

Registration is $55 for the first weapon and includes one banquet dinner. Each additional weapon is $10.  Additional banquet dinners are $40 (not the previously announced $35) per person.

The tournament venue is located near several hotel and motel chains on NASA Road One. Those requiring this information can email me and I will send the requested list.

The Fête de Lune will take place on the same weekend as the Ballunar Liftoff Festival, which annually attracts nearly one hundred balloon teams. This tends to provide some interesting sights for participants and guests.

For anyone flying into Houston, we recommend arriving at Hobby Airport. An arrival at Bush Intercontinental Airport will more than double the driving time to the venue.

The Fête de Lune is one of a handful of veterans' tournaments held each year in the Southwest Section.  We hope that our friends who have joined us in the past will be able to make the trip to Houston again. We also hope that those who have not yet joined our familiar group will take the opportunity to meet and fence with our illustrious guests.

Saturday, August 26th, Clear Lake City Sports and Recreation Complex (“Clear Lake City Recreation Center”)

·         Men’s and Women’s competition in Foil, Épée and Saber followed by a dinner and awards presentation.  Non-fencing guests are encouraged to attend!  Please pre-register by August 14th to guarantee your meal(s).

·         Fees: $55.00 includes registration for one weapon and the banquet. Additional weapons $10.00.  Banquet dinner for non-fencers – $40 (not the previously announced $35).

·         This event has been scheduled to coincide with the Ballunar Liftoff Festival!

The women's events are contingent on six preregistrants by close of preregistration. Else, only a mixed event will be held for that weapon.


All weapons will be fenced electrically.  Mask, lamé, and body cord checks will be performed (weapons will be checked on strip).  An armorer will be available.  USFA rules apply.  USFA membership will be required; membership forms will be available at the venue.
